The speed moot makes a welcomed return to Middle Temple. This year’s competition will take place on Sunday 20th June 2010. All Middle Temple students are welcome to take part, from undergraduates to BVC. Speed mooting offers the opportunity to moot without the lengthy preparation – no skeleton arguments to begin with. Mooters will be emailed two moot question and a full list of relevant authorities, passages in text books, journals etc at least 24 hours before the competition. On the Sunday, you turn up and will argue one moot in the morning and one moot in the afternoon. You only have five minutes to speak and therefore there is increased pressure to be succinct and persuasive. The judges will be juniors and Silks who will offer invaluable advice on advocacy and courtroom etiquette at the end of each moot. Over lunch, there will be an opportunity to talk more informally with the judges and members of the MTSA. The cost is £10.00 per person; lunch will be provided. Ideally, we ask for you to apply in teams of two, but individuals can be paired up. If you would like to take part please email This e-mail address is being protected from spambots.
