The Middle Temple Students' Association (MTSA) is the definitive body representing Middle Temple student members' interests. We currently provide both educational and social opportunities to complement the vocational stages of training to being a barrister. Membership is therefore primarily aimed at those undertaking the BPTC. However, we do have participants who are final year Law degree students or those undertaking the Graduate Diploma in Law. Although formally we are here to support you up until the point of call to the Bar, we are also keen to support you in obtaining pupillage or employment. Our activities are therefore aimed at mooting and debating, social events and preparation for pupillage applications. Administration of the MTSA falls to the committee who meet approximately every 2 weeks. On some occasions we meet more regularly and there are sub-committees too. The committee also places representatives on each of the Inn’s own committees to represent the student voice. There is also a MTSA student representative at each vocational provider, a selection of which sit on the committee. You can find out who they are and make contact with them on the “MTSA Committee” tab. Members' primary contact should be with their student reps. The operation of the MTSA is governed by a constitution and elections for committee positions are held annually. The last elections were in September 2011. The current committee is currently looking to redraft the constitution to reclaim accountability and participation. This year, two new roles were added to the committee, an officer for communication and an officer for equality and diversity. We look forward to meeting you during the course of your membership. |
